Pippa wears Matthew Williamson feather dress to VIP Vanity Fair party

Last night Pippa attended a VIP dinner in London, which was jointly held by Vanity Fair magazine and the Serpentine Sackler Gallery.  (For those who aren’t in the know, Pippa is a contributor to Vanity Fair.)  The party celebrated the gallery’s new building space in Kensington Gardens.   It was a star-studded event, with Jemima Khan, Boris Johnson, George Osbourne and Roman Abramovich all joining Pippa at the party.

However, it was definitely Pippa who stole the show!  Miss Middleton wore a vibrant blue silk shift dress by designer Matthew Williamson.  The dress featured teal and coral hand-dyed ostrich feathers and the plunging neckline was embellished with crystals.  (Click for pictures of Pippa  )

Here’s a look at the dress and modelled (right) for MW Daily (Matthew Williams’ style blog)

Pippa wore this Matthew Williamson feather trim dress.

The Matthew Williamson feather dress retails at a whopping £2,495 and is described on the designer’s website as follows:

Dance the night away in this cocktail dress. The silk shift features chevron-pattern silver beads at the hips, before finishing in a flourish of hand-dyed ostrich feathers, where teal blue melts into peach tones. The scoop neckline is highlighted with twists of silver beads encircling teal ribbon, punctuated with sapphire Swarovski crystals and a trim of tiny silver crystals. The dress is available in other colours.  // The dress fastens with a concealed zip at the centre back and hook-and-eye fastening at the neckline.

And a final quote from the MW Daily article:

THIS DRESS WAS MADE for dancing. The atelier worked in new, innovative ways to make it a stand-out statement, with each dress taking 8 days to be hand-finished.  The skirt debuts fluorescent ostrich feathers – hand-dyed in London – a punch of fun against the teal blue, showcased as you spin. 3.5 metres of plumes are hand-stitched to the skirt.  // Silver beads in chevron shapes hark back to the chevron weaves of traditional Nomad dress, as does the woven lace around the neckline. But this is a flirty, fresh take on it all. From the old to the very new…

And a quick look at the dress in two other colours, a vibrant orange available from FarFetch and a silver/yellow version, available from Flannels:

Back to Pippa’s outfit now:  Pippa accessorised her Matthew Williamson dress with grey-taupe suede clutch bag by Emmy Shoes and matching teal suede shoes by the same designer.

Pippa has worn clothing from Matthew Williamson on a few occasions previously too, including to a wedding in April this year and again during a night out in the same month.

Totally unrelated:

Yesterday, new pictures of Pippa emerged online, she was photographed wearing a fabulous monochrome outfit  and clutching onto a blue satchel bag.  The bag was from Paul’s Boutique.  You may remember Pippa carried a bag from the brand a couple of weeks ago too .

Comments

  1. I really do not like this dress but love her shoes.

  2. thanks for the bag codes for paul’s boutique!

  3. I agree with Melissa, I don’t think this really suited Pippa. The color combinations don’t mesh very well. Plus, I don’t think it’s really worth that amount of money.

  4. Has anyone used the stella code successfully? Mine just didn’t work and nothing happened!!

    • Hi Jenny,

I’ll have a go now – I can email Paul’s Boutique if it doesn’t work. I know the 10% off code ran out yesterday but the 15% off should still be good for a week or so.

    • Hi Jenny,

I can confirm it works perfectly for me:
