Pippa in cream Suzannah coat for Prince George’s christening

Earlier this week Pippa attended the christening for nephew – and third in line to the throne – Prince George of Cambridge.

Pippa looked elegant in her cream outfit, which perfectly coordinated with sister Kate’s.  Here is Pippa arriving for the christening on Wednesday:

Pippa opted for bespoke versions of the Trapeze coat and the Paris dress by British label Suzannah:

As a side note, Pippa was spotted weeks before the christening carrying clothing from Suzannah into her Chelsea home.  View those pictures here.

Pippa’s coat was bespoke, made from Italian wool with a blush pink trim and oyster silk lining, but a similar version of the coat is on sale for £750 here.  The designer’s website describes the coat as follows:

Simple Trapeze Line Dress Coat. The perfect tailored outer layer to complete a chic outfit for a wedding or event. Gentle A-Line silhouette with round neck and concealed front button fastening. Deep pleat detail at the back of the garment to give movement and charm. Neat side pockets. This coat is also available in Italian silk twill as a bespoke option from our London boutique only. There are bespoke colours available for this service.

We’re informed Pippa also wore Suzannah’s  “Paris” dress under the coat, in a cream lace.  This dress is available online for £950 in navy blue.  The dress is described on the designer’s website as follows:

Beautiful French lace contoured shift dress. Soft navy blue with ash stretch silk satin inner. A knee length dress with sheer panels. Trimmed in silk. French seamed finishing. A wonderful, flattering and versatile investment piece which can be worn from day through to dinner. A neat, charming silhouette. An understated wardrobe investment piece which can take you through the seasons. Available in bespoke colours from our London boutique only.

Suzannah revealed to The Daily Mail in a press release that Pippa purposefully chose to co-ordinate with Kate and George.  We also learned the designer had worked with Pippa ‘for months to create the perfect outfit.’ My guess is a loose cream and blue colour scheme was brought in for the official photographs, to ensure nobody stood out like a sore thumb!

Suzannah was quoted as saying:

“[We undertook] hours of research into the history of royal christenings’ to create something truly fitting of the occasion.

We aimed for understated beauty, drawing inspiration from a 1960s coat dress that I bought in LA, among other vintage looks and archive pieces.

The outfit had to be both beautiful and appropriate from the length of the hem, to the style of the millinery and the subtle colour and cut.

Lace has been a popular fabric choice by significant guests at royal christenings since 1926 and a dress in a style similar was worn by Princess Victoria of Sweden to the christening of her daughter Princess Estelle in 2012.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Suzannah said Pippa was a dream:

“Creating a couture dress and frock coat not only for the occasion of the royal christening, but for Pippa Middleton, who is so naturally elegant and stylish is a commission that every designer dreams of. It’s so exciting that British fashion has such a champion”

Pippa accessorised her dress with a hat by milliner Edwina Ibbotson. Her bag and heels were bespoke designed by Emmy Shoes.

  1. Mary Zech says:

Pippa looked beautiful, but she always looks so much more petite than Kate, even though she’s only a few inches shorter. When she was standing next to Carole, I noticed that they are the same height, yet Carole always looks tall and slim. I think Pippa wears a lot of high-waisted clothes that must make her look shorter. Although they are all tall and slim, Carole and Kate wear more long, lean lines in their dresses and coats, which emphasize their figures more and make them appear long and lean. Just my observations.

  2. Pippa should have worn a different color than the color she choose, she looked way too close to what Kate was wearing. Like she was trying to match her.

  3. Pippa’s cost did not fit her well seemed a bit big on her and not a huge fan of her hat. However her makeup and hair were done beautifully. Pippa’s gift to her nephew is very original indeed

Another utterly stunning outfit. The girl has natural style and a unique sense of how to make a statement without overshadowing her sister.
Tried to order one from suzannah website but predictably all sold out!
